begone: Definition and Much More From

be·gone (bĭ-gôn’, -gŏn’) pronunciation

Used chiefly in the imperative to express an order of dismissal.

[Middle English begone : be, imperative of ben, to be; see be + gone, past participle of gon, to go; see go1.]

I was doing an anagram puzzle this morning and could not convince myself that begone was the correct anagram for neegob. I had to enlist the help of the internet anagram server as well as the dictionary. Stupid outmoded, out-of-usage words.

And if you’re checking out the anagram server, also visit proper. The word of the day (for yesterday) was arithmancy — divination by numbers. Whaaaa?
